Instead, players should pick chaotic-related affixes if available, as these dramatically increase chances of chaotic legendary drops. If chaotic affixes are not present, the next best choices are Ether-related affixes, followed by Goblin-related ones. Demonkin is less effective this season, and Soul Tower affixes should be avoided entirely. Choosing chaotic affixes can result in maps full of Goblins, and defeating these mobs yields over 1,000 Ether, significantly boosting resource gains.

The final wave in the Compass event provides a strategic choice: if the player's Ether amount exceeds 666, they can spend exactly 666 Ether to sacrifice in a special ritual that triggers a fight against the chaotic boss. Defeating this boss guarantees a drop of a chaotic legendary item. This method has become the most reliable direct way to secure powerful gear pieces during Compass runs. 

Alongside Compass activity, players can make great progress by accumulating seasonal reputation, which earns valuable rewards. Once the seasonal reputation is maxed, every 110,000 reputation points can be exchanged for a chest that, under the season's blessings, guarantees a chaotic legendary drop. This adds an additional layer of reliable gear acquisition as reputation is passively gained through other activities.

Another strong farming target this season is the Chaos Rift, a gameplay element where a spectral hand appears on the map, leading players into a special chaotic domain with a random assortment of rewards. Players can receive gems, whispers, experience, chaotic legendaries, and sometimes even guaranteed Mythical Legendary drops from these rifts. Although very rewarding, Chaos Rifts can be harder to find in Hellwild Chaos compared to other activities. To improve efficiency, many players prefer to farm Nightmare Dungeons that spawn Chaos Rifts, as these dungeons are typically less contested and provide stable chaotic legendary loot opportunities, albeit requiring more running around the map.

While these methods—Compass runs, Nightmare Dungeon Chaos Rifts, and seasonal reputation chests—are among the prime approaches, chaotic legendaries can also drop globally from random chest openings anywhere in the world, although that is far less consistent. 

Players who prefer AFK farming and safer grinding often favor Compass farming, which provides both solid gear drops and good resource gains. Meanwhile, those who enjoy active running and map exploration tend to focus on Hellwild Chaos, Nightmare Dungeons, and the sporadic world drops diablo 4 unique items. The key is to combine these activities smartly, always making sure to open reputation chests regularly to gain the guaranteed chaotic legendary rewards tied to season progress.
