Rune farming is an essential aspect of game play. Whether it's to boost one of your stats that are below its soft cap or just increase your bank balance, rune farming plays an integral role.

There are various strategies available to you for increasing your earnings and dispatching enemies quickly in the Lands Between.

Kill the Troll Warriors

Runes in Elden Ring serve as both currency and experience points for players, much like Souls from previous FromSoftware titles. When one dies they're lost but can be collected back from where they fell if one doesn't perish before collecting them back up again.

Troll Warriors to the north of Stormgate provide an ideal early game rune farm. By spamming melee attack combinations against them, these warriors can be quickly killed one at a time to reap their bounty of elden ring runes and gold drops. Furthermore, killing these opponents provides an effective means of quickly stockpiling equipment and gold before encountering more difficult bosses later on in the early game.

Trolls in the Dragon-Burnt Ruins can also make good targets, and are easy to kill while yielding plenty of runes. Just be wary of Albinaurics who might try and backstab you!

Fast-travel to the Warmaster’s Shack Site of Grace

Sites of Grace act as checkpoints in Elden Ring and provide some relief from the grind without necessarily increasing rune acquisition. At the "Prayer Room" Site of Grace, you can take out numerous statue-like warriors easily as they stagger from each hit; sneak behind them for an easy kill!

Early and mid-game rune farming spots abound here, but for maximum rune-farming success in this region the best method is traveling to Caelid through one of the Dragon-Burnt Ruins South of Lake Agheel once you unlock Finger Maiden Melina's spectral steed, Torrent. This method yields far more efficiently than earlier approaches netting you over one million elden ring runes within 10 minutes!

Kill the Trolls in Stormhill

Mage's should consider this an ideal location for collecting runes; here, the trolls have a tendency of dropping many Smithing Stones which make for easy dodging attacks from these slow moving foes.

The Boss, however, can be more of an adversary; its powerful stomp attack deals high damage while inflicting bleeding damage requiring close range combat tactics for victory.

As luck would have it, the boss can be defeated easily by inflicting magic damage with any type of melee weapon - our preference being the Magic Glintblade; any sort of melee weapon will suffice. Once defeated, search the nearby ruins for a noble with a Smithing Stone [1]x5 to locate and use against him/her.

Kill the Bosses in the East Capital Ramparts

After traversing the Grand Lift of Dectus and descended its ravine, players will reach Leyndell. This sprawling capital city houses numerous strong enemies - among them is Veiled Monarch Morgott himself!

Outside the capital, follow the slope downhill for an idyllic view of the city before turning left down a small pathway leading to an entrance near Draconic Tree Sentinel that guards East Capital Rampart as you follow its trail.

Kill all enemies to earn 3,684 runes in this level. Accumulating these runes should be straightforward if you possess both luck and skill in equal measures, but be wary that dying twice in succession may cause all elden ring runes currently held to be lost - potentially frustrating if only carrying few runes, or devastating if planning to respec all attributes at once!

Kill the Bosses in Mohgwyn Palace

Runes are an essential resource in Elden Ring, not only for levelling but also to purchase upgrades and consumables. As such, it is worthwhile knowing how to efficiently farm them from an early stage.

Caelid is the ideal location for rune farming in Elden Ring. To reach it quickly, fast travel to Warmaster's Shack Site of Grace in Stormhill and ride southeast toward Erdree where there will be a hidden cave within its cliffs.

Killing Troll Warriors will yield many runes quickly in this area, but you should equip yourself with high defense and protective talismans such as Dragoncrest Shield Talisman or Pearldrake Talisman in order to reduce bleed damage. When ready, head towards Palace Approach Ledge Road and begin killing bosses there.
